Throwing A Bone
When you throw a bone to a dog, you're giving it something it really wants - usually a tasty piece of meat. But what happens when you "throw a bone" in the figurative sense? Well, that's when you're being sarcastic and saying "don't worry about it" or "it's nothing".
It's like when your grandma asks you if you'd like to go shopping with her, and you say "oh, yeah, sure, throw a bone". She knows you'd rather be doing just about anything else. You're not literally giving her anything, you're just being polite.
