Voicing Your Inner Puppeteers
As a silent, voiceless being, you're probably wondering, "How do I make sound when I'm just a silent, voiceless soul?"
Here are some exercises to help you discover your inner puppeteer:
- Find a nearby puppet show and observe the puppeteer's hands moving with precision and flair. Study the way they manipulate their marionettes, making them dance, prance, and sing.
- Practice speaking with a mouthful of marbles. This will help you develop the diction of a seasoned ventriloquist.
- Record a series of sounds using a vocoder. Experiment with different effects and see what kind of wacky voices you can create.
- Visit a karaoke bar and watch how others try to hit those high notes. Analyze their vocal techniques and try to mimic them, but don't try to outdo them, or you might end up with a vocal cord crisis.
