Chapter 3: The Art of Apologetic Apologies
'Tis a delicate art, my friends, one that requires finesse and a healthy dose of desperation.
When arriving late to a social engagement, one must apologize with a flourish, a dash of panache, and a sprinkle of sincerity.
Avoid eye contact, lest you be met with the cold glare of disinterest.
Instead, focus on the host/host/hostess and speak directly to their left ear, as if the conversation had been going on for hours.
Example: "Oh, sorry I'm so terribly late! I hope I didn't interrupt anything..." ( glance left )
Subtle, yet effective.
